How it works
Sensors that read your hand.

Optical sensor + 6-axis IMU.
Tap detects micro-motion at your fingertips with an optical sensor and an inertial measurement unit. Together they capture the difference between a tap, a pinch and a swipe — at 1 kHz, with ~40ms latency.

A complete input vocabulary.
Taps, pinches, surface swipes, thumb swipes and air gestures. Map each one to a command, a keystroke, an AI prompt or a macro. The same band, infinitely configurable.

No cloud. No latency tax.
Gesture recognition runs on a low-power chip inside the housing. No audio leaves your wrist, no video, no telemetry. Pairs as a standard Bluetooth HID — so it works with everything.

Does it really replace my Apple Watch band?
Yes. The Tap Watch Band uses Apple's standard lug system. Swap your existing band for the Tap Watch Band in seconds and your Apple Watch is unchanged — Tap simply adds gesture control on top.
Which AI smart glasses does it support?
Tap pairs as a standard Bluetooth HID keyboard and mouse, so it works with any glasses that accept Bluetooth peripheral input. We're publishing compatibility notes per device on the AI glasses page.
Will my data leave the device?
No. Gesture recognition runs entirely on-device. Tap sends key codes and HID commands over Bluetooth — never camera feeds, audio, or location data.
Do I need a separate app?
Tap works out of the box as a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse with no app required. For custom mappings and macros, the TapMapper app extends it.
How long does the battery last?
Multi-day battery life under typical use. Charges via USB-C through a magnetic connector on the housing.
Is it water resistant?
Final IP rating will be confirmed at launch. The Apple Watch itself retains its existing water resistance — only the band changes.
